Asha for Education is an all-volunteer worldwide secular non-profit organization that works to provide basic education to underprivileged children in India. With 66 chapters world-wide, Asha supports over 380 projects across India. The NYC/NJ chapter currently supports 18 projects in various parts of India and organizes several fundraising events in the area such as the 5K event which will directly benefit such projects. As a zero overhead organization, 100% of net proceeds go towards the education related projects for underprivileged children across India.

ANNOUNCEMENT: 1st Annual Matawan Borough Turkey Trot Run/Walk

Matawan Borough to Hold First Annual “Turkey Trot” 5K Run & Fitness Walk

Race forms are available at www.matawanborough.com

Matawan Borough is inviting everyone to “come burn off their stuffing” on their officially certified 5K course through historic Matawan Borough during their Turkey Trot Run and Fitness Walk. The course offers hills, flat lands and views of our lakes, neighborhoods and downtown. All proceeds from the race will benefit Matawan parks and athletic fields.

Matawan’s Turkey Trot 5K Run and Fitness Walk will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2006. Registration starts at 8:30AM at the Matawan Borough Community Center ( 201 Broad Street ). The race starts at 10:00AM.

There will be entertainment, all individual racers will receive t-shirts and awards will be given to the top finishers in each category. There will also be a Free Kiddy Dash race! Registration is $20 from November 1st to race day for individual runners and walkers.
